Bose Professional ArenaMatch Utility loudspeakers for outdoor installations are shipping now

Bose Professional’s new ArenaMatch Utility loudspeakers for outdoor installations are now shipping. Recently introduced, ArenaMatch loudspeaker systems offer a turnkey solution for entire outdoor sound installations and include both array and utility loudspeaker options. ArenaMatch arrays incorporate DeltaQ technology and make it easy to create durable and reliable outdoor loudspeaker arrays. Also now shipping, ArenaMatch Utility loudspeakers deliver consistent zone-fill coverage and make equalizing complete systems much easier.

Designed and built for zone-fill coverage or high-SPL foreground music, the four new Bose ArenaMatch Utility loudspeakers (AMU208, AMU206, AMU108 and AMU105) feature similar tonal balance to ArenaMatch DeltaQ array modules but in compact designs. They have the same EMB2S compression driver as ArenaMatch arrays, ensuring consistent sound, and the same IP55 weather rating. Users may deploy them for zone-fill coverage in sports stadiums, arenas, outdoor entertainment centers, and more. Or they may be utilized to provide intelligible, high-level sound in any outdoor area — from niche venues such as breweries and fairgrounds to larger settings like resorts and outdoor shopping centers. These speakers provide wide, even coverage via a constant-directivity high-frequency horn, which can be rotated for horizontal or vertical installation. ArenaMatch Utility modules can perform in the most demanding applications with the largest model (AMU208) featuring 70 Hz – 18 kHz frequency range and 126 dB maximum peak SPL, with all models supporting the lowest vocal range. ArenaMatch Utility modules can mount easily with included stainless-steel U-bracket.

ArenaMatch loudspeakers also interface perfectly with Bose PowerMatch amplifiers, ControlSpace DSPs and ControlSpace Designer software, which simplifies setup and monitoring, saving users time with loudspeaker presets for EQ, limiter and crossover settings.

Lectrosonics introduces the M2C active antenna combiner

Lectrosonics is pleased to announce the introduction of the M2C active antenna combiner. The M2C is designed as an ideal matching component to Lectrosonics digital transmitters including the DCHT portable stereo unit and the Duet M2T dual stereo unit. Up to eight transmitter sources can feed a single antenna to minimize cabling in multi-channel systems. The M2C inputs are well isolated to minimize crosstalk and IM (intermodulation) between RF channels. The overall architecture provides excellent RF performance with low power consumption and heat buildup. Front panel LED indicators display active status of RF inputs, and a USB port is provided for firmware updates.

“The M2C active antenna combiner is an excellent addition to any Duet IEM or IFB system” states Karl Winkler, VP of Sales & Service at Lectrosonics. “Since it was designed from the beginning to work with digital transmitters, signals through the M2C stay clean and intermodulation is kept to a minimum.”

The M2C is a 1RU, AC mains powered, fan-cooled unit with eight 50 Ohm BNC input ports and a single 50 Ohm BNC output port. The frequency range for the M2C is 470-614 MHz, and the unit accepts input sources up to 100 mW, while RF gain through the system is at unity.

MSRP for the M2C is $4,335 and the unit is available now.

RODECaster Pro – next major firmware update is here

RØDE Microphones, Australia’s pro audio innovation powerhouse and Choice of Today’s Creative Generation™, is proud to announce the next major firmware update to the RØDECaster Pro™, the world’s first fully integrated podcast production studio.

Following on from the first update back in February which introduced multitrack recording via USB, the 1.2.0 update expands the RØDECaster Pro’s multitrack capabilities, enabling multitrack recording direct to microSD™, and other useful upgrades.

The RØDECaster Pro’s new functions featured in the 1.2.0 firmware update include:

· Multitrack recording to the on-board microSD card: polyWAV file format, stereo live mix + individual sources
· Updated companion app: offering more user-friendly file handling
· The option to pause during a recording
· Updated colour-coding on the record button: green – armed, red – recording, amber – paused.

HOW DOES MULTITRACK TO SD WORK?

The RØDECaster Pro will now record 14 tracks to the on-board microSD card. These tracks are the same as if you were recording multitrack via USB to a DAW:

· A stereo ‘live mix’ track
· A mono track for each of the 4 microphone inputs
· Stereo tracks for the USB, 3.5mm TRRS, Bluetooth and sound-effects-pad channels.

Multitrack to SD recording can be activated in the ‘Hardware’ > ‘Advanced’ section of the RØDECaster’s menu, alongside the existing multitrack to USB feature.

THE PAUSE FUNCTION

The RØDECaster Pro now offers the option to pause a recording at any time by pressing and holding the record button for two seconds. Tapping the button will resume the recording, while pressing and holding again will end the recording.

To make this process as simple as possible, we’ve updated the colour-coding on the record button:

· Green means the RØDECaster is ready to record
· Red means it is recording
· Flashing amber means it is paused.

For a deep dive into the new features and the hands-on functionality of the 1.2.0 firmware update, hit this link. Download version 1.2.0 now from rode.com/rodecasterapp and get podcasting today.

Yamaha FG Red Label acoustic guitars merge timeless design with cutting-edge technology

Yamaha today launched the FG Red Label series of acoustic guitars, blending the vintage, handcrafted design of iconic early Yamaha instruments with the company’s cutting-edge technological innovation in wood conditioning and true-to-life sound reproduction.

These guitars are inspired by the original FG Red Label acoustic guitars of the 1960s, the company’s very first steel-string guitars, which became widely known for their high-end Japanese craftsmanship. The new folk guitars retain the retro aesthetic and classic tone of their predecessors, while adding a new pickup system and the company’s proprietary wood aging process to create a guitar that sounds like a seasoned, vintage instrument right out of the box.

All models in the FG Red Label line are crafted with solid Sitka spruce tops, mahogany back and sides, and ebony fingerboards. The top is reinforced with scalloped bracing, a specialized latticework to enhance tone and projection. The overall design evokes the look and feel of the original FG Red Label models launched in 1966 under the Nippon Gakki name that preceded the present-day Yamaha brand. Over the years, the models in this original line have come to represent the quintessential Yamaha acoustic guitar.

Selected models in this guitar line are equipped with the Yamaha Atmosfeel™ pickup and preamp system, a hardware innovation endowing the guitar with a uniquely natural plugged-in sound. Atmosfeel employs a three-way sensor setup, with a piezo sensor to capture sound where the strings meet the bridge, an internal microphone to gather the resonance inside the guitar body and a sheet sensor to pick up the vibrations of the topboard. These three components work together to produce a multidimensional sound with additional nuance and depth, offering a more complete representation of the guitar’s true sound.

The FG Red Label’s top is treated with the company’s proprietary Acoustic Resonance Enhancement, a patented chemical-free process that uses precise control of temperature, humidity and pressure to alter the structure of wood at a sub-cellular level, transforming it into the same material as would be found on a guitar that has been played for many years. Benefits include increased resonance, longer bass sustain, and greater midrange and high-frequency responsiveness.

“The iconic Yamaha folk guitar has evolved into an instrument with a unique retro vibe and design enhanced by the latest advances in guitar technology,” said Yoh Watanabe, director of marketing, Yamaha Guitar. “The new FG Red Label guitar inspires artists to make music that rises above the limitations of a conventional guitar, with warm, seasoned tones and rich harmonics for a pure, powerful performance, plugged or unplugged.”

Pricing and Availability

Yamaha FG Red Label guitars will ship in the summer of 2019. Pricing is as follows (all prices are MSRP):

  • FG3/FS3: $1,275.00
  • FGX3/FSX3: $1,585.00
  • FG5/FS5: $1,900.00

Pro Sound Effects releases Wildlife Collection: Bengal Tiger sound library

Pro Sound Effects® (PSE), the next level sound effects library company, has released Wildlife Collection: Bengal Tiger — a pristine specialty library featuring a wide variety of vivid tiger recordings ready for naturalistic use and sound design applications.

The expressive sounds of a middle-aged female Bengal tiger were captured at 24-bit/192kHz by recordist and sound effects editor, Chris Diebold (Spider-Man: Homecoming, Transformers: The Last Knight), using multiple microphones including the Sanken CO-100K with a frequency response of 20Hz–100kHz. These high-resolution sounds of deep growls, gnarly crunches, and heavy chuffs are ripe for pitch processing – making them perfect for sound designing beasts, monsters, and other creatures.

In addition to the raw recordings, the library also contains designed and “hyped” sounds to drag-and-drop directly into your animalistic designs and scenes. Each sound file is embedded with rich, descriptive metadata for fast, intuitive search results to help increase efficiency and creativity.

“One of the most challenging aspects for creating vocals for any kind of animal on screen is to properly convey emotion,” says Chris Diebold. “It’s essential to have a wide range of high quality animal recordings. Tigers and other big cats have that throaty, gurgley sound, so this library gives you immense sound design possibilities.”

WILDLIFE COLLECTION: BENGAL TIGER KEY FEATURES:

  • 150 sound effects (3GB)
  • Includes 104 multi-microphone recordings
  • Sanken CO-100K, Sanken CS-1e, Neumann RSM-191
  • 24-bit/192kHz broadcast .wav files

Capable of creating rich evolving chord patterns immediately with “no patching required”, Matriarch invites access to an abundance of inspiring textures, new sounds, and an endless supply of happy accidents through its 90 modular patch points. Based on the vintage circuitry of classic Moog synthesizer modules, Matriarch is a catalyst for creative ideas and a medium for multidimensional expression.

**Matriarch Semi-Modular Analog Synthesizer is available now for preorder ($1,999). Matriarch begins shipping in Summer of 2019

MATRIARCH: Place / Time / Memory

Matriarch: Place / Time / Memory illuminates the interconnectedness between one’s sense of place, our perceptions of sound organized in time, and the impressions they leave behind.

Exploring the Moog Matriarch synthesizer from their personal home studios, multi-instrumentalist Lisa Bella Donna, Ghostly Intl. electronic producer Max Ravitz (Patricia), Anthem / Call of Duty / Assassins Creed composer Sarah Schachner, and Paris Strother of Grammy-nominated R&B duo We Are KING express 4 unique sonic perspectives on the new instrument within the context of their own creative environments.

Continuing its tradition of debuting new synthesizers at Moogfest (Minimoog, Subsequent 37 CV, Grandmother), Moog Music will be offering a Sneak Peek of Matriarch to the public this Weekend at Moogfest 2019.

Ahead of Matriarch landing in studios and on stages this summer, Moog Music is offering a hands-on preview of the new instrument during Moogfest 2019, the annual music, art, and technology festival held in honor of electronic pioneer Bob Moog. The American synthesizer manufacturer brings their synth-building experience to Durham with the Moog Pop-Up Factory, where Moog invites the public to play and explore pre-release Matriarch synthesizers. Visitors also have the opportunity to discover what it takes to bring a new piece of technology into the world by engaging Moog Production Engineers as they live-build Matriarch onsite. The Moog Pop-Up Factory is free and open to the public April 25 – 28 at 300 Blackwell Street (Bay 7) Durham, NC 27701.

An exclusive Moogfest Edition of Matriarch is available for pre-order through Guitar Center, either onsite at the Moog Pop-Up Factory or through https://www.guitarcenter.com/Moogfest.gc from now through April 28. These Moogfest Edition Matriarch Synthesizers will be the first 250 instruments to ship from the employee-owned Moog Factory this summer.

Moog Matriarch is available for pre-order through all Authorized Moog Dealers worldwide starting Monday, April 30.

About Matriarch

The pinnacle of Moog’s semi-modular family of synthesizers, Matriarch’s patchable architecture and classic Moog circuits reward open exploration with endless sonic possibilities and unparalleled analog sound. Matriarch’s 4 analog VCOs can be split into 4 notes of paraphony that can be sequenced, shifted, and stored with the instrument’s intuitive 256 step sequencer, or stacked in unison to create a massive 4 oscillator mono synth.

With a deep assortment of synthesis modules based on Bob Moog’s original circuit designs, Matriarch’s 100% analog signal path spans a dynamic sonic vocabulary – from overdriven monophonic bass to gently evolving paraphonic plucks that cycle through waveshapes into a wash of infinite delay trails. Coupling the power of vintage-designed stereo ladder filters, dual Envelope Generators, stereo Analog Delays, and stereo VCAs, Matriarch delivers a multi-dimensional sound that empowers the sonic exploration of both space and time.

Though Matriarch’s semi-modular design requires absolutely no patching, 90 modular patch points are easily accessible throughout the panel via the included 3.5mm patch cables. This powerful electronic instrument is a highly-versatile addition to any stage or studio that can effortlessly transform from a performance keyboard into a fully modular analog synthesizer at a moment’s notice.

In addition to its standalone function, Matriarch is also an ideal processor of external sound sources and a powerful keyboard front-end for expanding a DFAM, Mother-32, Grandmother, or Eurorack modular system.

About Moogfest

Since 2004, Moogfest has been a forum for the exchange of ideas by artists, futurists, inventors, entrepreneurs, and scientists.

By day, Moogfest is a platform for conversation and experimentation, attracting creative and tech enthusiasts for four days of participatory programming in Durham, North Carolina. By night, Moogfest presents cutting-edge performances by early pioneers in electronic music, contemporary pop innovators, and avant-garde experimentalists in venues throughout the city.
