Catalinbread Effects officially releases Coriolis Effect

Catalinbread@ Effects has officially released the Coriolis™ Effect, a wah, filter, harmonizer, pitch shifter, and sustainer effects pedal. Following the pedal’s announcement at NAMM earlier this year, the Coriolis™ Effect has already been featured on Reverb’s Top 7 NAMM Picks, That Pedal Show, and Premier Guitar’s First Look. The Coriolis Effect is officially available for purchase through retailers and directly at

The Coriolis™ Effect is a phenomenon in classical mechanics where a trajectory becomes altered due to a rotating frame of reference. The Catalinbread® Coriolis™ Effect has three main parameters to change the equations of motion for your guitar signal. Turning down the Velocity and Acceleration controls drags your playing into the heart of a black hole, redshifting your tone into a lower pitch and filtering out the high frequencies. The Hold button will instantly pull you into the black hole stopping time completely. Plug in and explore where humanity has never shredded before! In short: Think of the Coriolis™ Effect as a sustainer, wah, filter, pitch shifter, and harmonizer rolled into one—the sonic possibilities are endless!

A demo video by Andy Martin (AndyDemos/Reverb’s Tone Report) can be seen here.

  • Position: This parameter controls the dry/wet mix with a full wet on clockwise and full dry on counterclockwise.
  • Acceleration: This parameter is a 2-pole low pass filter.
  • Velocity: This parameter adjusts the pitch of the wet signal.
  • Hold: Pressing this button stops any new sampling and loops the current sample. (Initialize during a chord to sustain the chord for upwards of two minutes. Initialize while playing melody lines for a fast-delay/stutter sound.)
  • Expression pedal Input
  • Internal bypass mode switch (True Bypass/Buffered Bypass)
  • Internal expression pedal polarity switch
  • Internal trimmer pot to adjust gain level
  • Hand-built in Portland,OR
  • 3-year warranty
  • Retail price of $229.99

Celestion introduces the Neo 250 Copperback impulse responses

Celestion, the premier manufacturer of guitar and bass loudspeakers whose classic guitar tones have made the company famous as the voice of rock and roll, is pleased to introduced the newest member of their celebrated line of Impulse Responses, the Neo 250 Copperback. The Copperback, a unique type of Celestion guitar speaker with an unparalleled blend of transparency, tonal nuance and dynamic response, is now available in digital download form at

While classic Celestion speakers offer the signature midrange presence, controlled cone break-up and overall musicality that has led the music community to consider them one of the most important elements of great guitar tone, the Neo 250 Copperback is designed with a different sonic goal in mind. The Copperback supplies purity of tone, without the cone break-up one would expect from a more traditional Celestion guitar speaker.

The Copperback speaker impulse response offers a sonic signature that delivers tight lows, neutral low-mids, defined upper-mids and well-controlled high treble. It enables you to shift from shimmering tubular-bell-like cleans to flute-like high gain with simply a tweak of the amplifier’s drive setting.

The Celestion Neo 250 Copperback impulse response is a highly-accurate digital representation of the unique and innovative Copperback guitar speaker. For those players who  want more transparency—revealing the best from an amplifier and playing—as well as less mid-range vocal intensity, the Celestion Neo 250 Copperback speaker impulse response offers gorgeous tone without the additional colouration associated with cone break-up.

Recorded by Celestion’s expert sound engineers using the same meticulous techniques as all the company’s best-selling IRs, the Neo 250 Copperback speaker impulse response was captured with three pro-quality studio microphones – the classic Shure SM57, a Royer R-121 ribbon mic and a Sennheiser MD421. Each of these mics were recorded in six different positions – named within the impulse response files as Balanced, Bright, Fat, Thin, Dark and Dark 2 – as well as a rear mic position for the open back cabs. The addition of a Neumann TLM107 room mic provides the user with a huge number of different mic mixes and range of unique tonal options.

The Celestion Neo 250 Copperback speaker impulse responses are available in five different cabinet configurations:

  • 1×12 (open back)
  • 1×12 (closed back)
  • 2×12 (open back)
  • 2×12 (closed back)
  • 4×12 (closed back)

The Neo Copperback impulse responses are downloaded in .WAV format for compatibility with most DAWs, IR plug-ins and amp modelling software.

The new Neo Copperback 250 Impulse Responses joins the extensive family of genuine Celestion acclaimed guitar and bass speaker Impulse Responses such as the:  A-TypeBN15-300X (Bass IR), Celestion BlueCelestion Cream, Celestion Gold, Classic Lead 80,Heritage G12H 55Hz, Heritage G12M, G12 EVH, G12K-100, G12-35XC G12T-75,  G12-50GL Lynchback,  G12-H150 Redback, G12M Greenback, G12M-65 Creamback, G12M-75 Creamback, G12H Anniversary, G12-65, Neo CreambackPULSE10, PULSE12 andPULSE15, V-TypeVintage 30 and other models.

The Neo Copperback 250 single cabinets can also be included in a Pick & Mix selection.

About Celestion Impulse Responses

Celestion IRs, which capture the essential behavior of the cabinet in the specific space in which it was recorded, including the frequency and phase response of single drivers as well as the interaction of multiple speakers, offer the user significant benefits. In both recording and live production, Celestion IRs enable the desired tone to be precisely and consistently reproduced regardless of the music recording or live sound environment. And IR users can escape the limitations of a single mic and cabinet setup and explore a universe of possibilities to create the perfect tone. Once you find a tone that you love, it can be precisely recreated, in the studio or on the road, time after time. And the IRs allow Celestion customers to audition specific models before purchasing one or more physical speakers.

Celestion IR digital downloads are available in uncompressed, industry standard .WAV format at 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, 88.2 kHz and 96 kHz sample rates at 24 bit depth, in lengths of 200 and 500 milliseconds Once the files are downloaded and unzipped, users simply load the IRs into a convolution plug-in in their DAW or into other processing hardware. These formats will work in all known hardware capable of loading IRs, and for the most popular hardware Celestion have already grouped together the correct formats. Guitar processor manufacturers supported include Atomic Amps, Fractal Audio Systems, Kemper, Line 6, Logidy, Positive Grid, Two Notes, Headrush and Yamaha. The Celestion IR files may be downloaded in the sample rate and length appropriate for the hardware being used or as a complete package of all rates and lengths. Certain third party hardware requires the files to be converted into a proprietary format before use.

Fender celebrates Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan with latest artist signature bass collection

Fender Musical Instruments Corporation (FMIC) today released the Duff McKagan Deluxe Precision Bass® the latest iteration of Fender’s collaboration with the Guns N’ Roses bassist and New York Times bestselling author. The newest model in Fender’s Artist Signature Series captures the true musical essence of Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee McKagan. Best known for his work with Guns N’ Roses and Velvet Revolver McKagan has had an epic music career,  entertaining and inspiring countless fans. Now, with the Duff McKagan Deluxe Precision Bass, he will continue influencing the industry with a bass guitar that epitomizes rock culture and caters to his unique, melodic playing style that’s impacted bass players and music-lovers everywhere.

“The Duff McKagan Deluxe Precision Bass is a nice evolution of the original bass we released with him,” added Justin Norvell, EVP Fender Products. “While we were developing it, we worked closely with Duff and the first guitar tech for Guns N’ Roses – McBob – to give this bass even more versatility than ever. Duff played these basses on the latest Guns N’ Roses world tour and new features like instant Drop- D tuning with the Hipshot® Bass Xtender came in handy during those 30-song sets with 3 to 4 different tunings.”

Based on the Pearl White instrument McKagan used while recording Guns N’ Roses’ debut album, “Appetite for Destruction,” the Duff McKagan Signature model is a distinctive, sleek and full-sounding reissue of his favorite ’80s-era Jazz Bass® Special. The bass combines a Precision Bass body with a Jazz Bass neck, as well as pickups from both instruments. It also adds player-friendly features and stylistic touches that Duff demands in his playing. On the heels of the latest Guns N’ Roses album release, the bass truly reflects Duff’s love for punk, rock ‘n’ roll and an evolution of his original signature model.

“The original bass I bought was the only one I took at the road for the Appetite for Destruction tour,” McKagan said. “We had a backup bass, but we didn’t need it. At some point we went to get another bass, but we couldn’t find a Jazz Special, so we went to Fender. To flash forward, be a Fender artist and have my own signature bass with this company is incredible. Fender is James Jamerson, John Paul Jones and it’s the bass that all the greats played. I’m still kind of in awe, and I don’t take it for granted.”

New features inspired by the legendary bassist’s preferences, include: instant Drop-D tuning, tonal versatility from a TBXTM (Treble/Bass Expander) tone circuit and a sleek black-painted neck with pearloid block inlays and binding. The signature bass also features a Pure Vintage ‘70s bridge and, as a special touch, a neckplate adorned with Duff’s signature skull-and-crossbones artwork.

McKagan also recently announced the upcoming release of his much-anticipated solo album, Tenderness, which was produced by and features Grammy® award-winner Shooter Jennings, as a musical follow-up to 2015’s best-selling book, How To Be A Man (And Other Illusions). McKagan and Jennings began recording in March 2018, working out of Station House studios in Echo Park, Calif., where they wrote and recorded in-between McKagan’s tour with seminal rock band Guns N’ Roses and the release of Jennings’ eponymous album, Shooter. For a full list of upcoming shows click here.

In true tradition, the Fender’s Artist Signature Series honors popular and iconic musicians through product progression and storytelling, creating instruments inspired by the unique specifications of the world’s greatest guitarists and bassists. “It’s an honor to collaborate with such an esteemed and iconic bassist like Duff,  who inspires musicians of all generations and continues to raise the bar through his recorded work and on stage in one of the world’s most iconic bands,” said Matt Watts, VP Artist & Integrated Marketing. “It’s signature artists like him that build on Fender’s tradition of bass excellence.”

The Duff McKagan Deluxe Precision Bass is based on the ‘80s Jazz Bass Special he used while recordingAppetite for Destruction. An evolution of his signature model, this bass adds all the features and stylistic touches that Duff loves. The black painted Modern “C”-shaped quartersawn maple neck has a “Deluxe Jazz Bass Special” headstock logo and rosewood fingerboard with pearloid block inlays, along with the number “12” at the twelfth fret. A must-have for live performance, the Hipshot® Bass Xtender allows instant Drop-D tuning with the flick of a lever. Duff’s signature sound comes from pairing a Fender vintage-style Precision Bass split-coil pickup with a Seymour Duncan® STKJ2B Jazz Bass single-coil bridge pickup. This thunderous tone can be shaped precisely by the Fender TBXTM (Treble/Bass Expander) tone circuit. Additional features include a Pure Vintage ‘70s bridge and a Duff skull-and-crossbones neck plate. A deluxe gig bag is also included.

Since 1946, Fender has revolutionized music and culture as one of the world’s leading musical instrument manufacturers, marketers and distributors.
